Me and a Boss(6)

The secretary had clearly done all of the work for him and now the only thing that was left for him to do was to act busy when in the real sense he was doing nothing but think about his girl. There were plenty of other girls that wanted him, but thankfully, Tony was – as most of his friends liked to call him – a one-woman demon.

And apart from being able to think about Kate, the other thing that was giving him sleepless nights was none other than the girls that he used to party with in the past. Though Tony wasn’t sure about this, he was starting to have a feeling that some of the girls that he once knew were going to make a comeback to his life and do nothing apart from ruining his life completely.

It wasn’t as though he was some seer or anything, but he had experience especially as far as these matters were concerned. Some people weren't happy to see other people thriving in their lives, and that said, he thought it would be a good idea just to steer off all of these girls and find one that was worth living with on a permanent basis.

At that point, the only thing that he could wish was that everything was going to work out as far as they were concerned. But at the end of it all, it seemed as though he was overthinking. Heck, he deserved to be happy in every sense of the word.

In the other side of town, Kate was trying her level best to stay focused at work. But from the look of things, it seemed as though she was having the same problem as her boyfriend.

Kate might not have been from a rich background, but she too had a boyfriend or two. And now that she was dating a billionaire, it seemed as though they might want to make a comeback and disrupt her life for no apparent reason. But that was what happened when people move on and left some other people wanting to get back together.

For a moment, she thought about what she would do if some random boyfriend came up and tried to make her life a living hell because she had seen it happen many times over.

And that said, she decided that maybe it would be a good idea to have some breakfast with Tony. Of course, they had been together the previous day, but she didn’t see it as a bad idea to hook up with him for some breakfast. And that said, she took her phone out and dialed his number.

Chapter 7:

-Blast from the past-

There were plenty of things that Tony wanted to tell Kate, but he just didn’t know where to start. When he was still an active member of the billionaires’ boys club, there were some things that they did that he more or less regretted. But that said, it seemed as though the demons from his past were going to take a toll on him if at all he wasn’t going to own them and accept them before moving on.

And one of the most important things about accepting was the fact that he needed to share the stories with Kate and make sure that she understood the fact that he wasn’t that kind of person anymore. And thankfully, it has Kate who flipped the switch button, allowing him to change and become a much better person who is quite the important thing as far as his transformation was concerned.

But the worst thing about the whole thing was that he didn’t know just how well she was going to react to the whole thing. At one point, it seemed as though everything that he had imagined with Kate in it, including their future, was going to come crumbling down around them if at all they weren’t very careful about coming clean with their past.

Kate was a very smart girl, and she had made it a point to come clean about virtually every single thing that had happened to her before they met, including her previous boyfriends et all. But when it came to Tony, he was a little bit hesitant, and Kate understood that it wasn’t that easy to just come clean about your past especially if it was wild. And that said, she decided to give him all the space that he wanted, telling him that it was ok for him to come clean in his timing.

But in as much as Tony appreciated her for doing that, it still didn’t seem like one of the best ideas since he knew that once he went public with their relationship with Kate, some of the demons from the past, including some very crazy and rich girlfriends would start coming out of the woodwork.

It was human nature not wanting to see people you can’t have done well, and since Tony knew these girls, he also knew that they weren’t going to be very happy seeing him move on with a simple girl.

The following morning, the two were scheduled to have breakfast at their favorite restaurant, and they were more than excited to show up because the cordon bleu chef had promised them something special as he had just heard of their rather quick engagement. And ever since Tony introduced Kate to him, the chef had grown so fond of her, claiming that she reminded him of his daughter back in Russia.

And Kate didn’t have a problem with being a reminiscent as long as she kept on having food at discounted prices. So as usual, they got there much earlier than usual since Tony was to rush to a business meeting and Kate was to go back to her apartment after missing in action for a couple of days.

They smiled and tickled each other like they were little teenagers who had just fallen in love. And that was when a drop dead gorgeous redhead stormed into the joint and came straight to where the two lovebirds were and without warning, she flung herself on to Tony and started kissing him on the lips as passionately as possible.

Shocked, Tony pushed her back and wiped his lips with his sleeve right before asking her who the heck she was.

“Come on, baby. Why are you pretending not to notice me? I am Monica. The girl you f*cked the other day and decided to ditch me. How have you been? Oh, I see you have found another girl to use up, and now you don’t even remember me.”
