Mercy (Salacious Players Club, #4)(8)

“Okay, question number one—” Charlie starts, but I hold up a hand.

“Wait. I need more wine.”

“We should make it a drinking game! Every time she answers no, we drink,” Mia adds with a wicked smile.

“You’ll die of alcohol poisoning,” I reply.

The girls laugh as I open the spout on the box of wine, letting it fill my cup more than halfway. “All right, go.”

“Would you consider yourself spontaneous?”

“No,” I reply as we take a drink.

“Do you like to test your own limits and boundaries?”

“No.” Drink.

“Are you a rule breaker?”

“No.” Drink again. “See. I told you.”

“Does the idea of inflicting pain on others excite you?”

My mouth forms the word no, but I hesitate for a moment too long.

“Oh…” Mia jokes when she notices me pausing.

“Should I put down maybe?” Charlie asks.

The wine is making my brain fuzzy, but the more I think about it, the idea of marking someone up just to see them in pain is…intoxicating. Is that the same as excited?

“Um…sure. Put maybe.”

Mia is currently staring at me with her bottom lip pinched between her teeth as if she knows something I don’t.

Charlie rolls through a lot of questions that get a very hard no. Would I let someone lick my feet? Would I enjoy being someone’s pet? Would I be willing to hand over complete control of my life to my partner?

No. No. Absolutely not.

Pretty sure, the three of us are properly drunk, giggling our way through the questions to the point where Isabel has to take over reading them because Charlie is three sheets to the wind.

“Does the idea of withholding your partner’s pleasure turn you on?”

“What the hell does that mean?” I reply with a drunk giggle.

“It means not letting him come!” Mia replies a little too loudly.

“Shhhh,” I say, glancing toward the living room where the guys are mostly ignoring us and having a conversation of their own. A small part of me is dying to know what they’re talking about. Are they discussing the club without me? I should really go in there and see what I’m missing, but when a pair of ocean eyes glance up in my direction, a playful smirk on his face, I pop my head back into the kitchen to avoid his disarming gaze. God, I hope he can’t hear what we’re talking about in here.

“Maggie…answer the question.”

“Um…not letting him come? Is that really so fun?” I ask.

“Hell yeah it is. I’ve done it a few times. It’s fun,” Mia replies with a shrug as if it’s nothing. “Use him to get yourself off and then just torture him until he’s begging you to let him finish.”

I wince, not exactly enjoying the image of her and Garrett together, but I’m not going to lie…the idea is enticing.

“I mean…how many times do they get off without letting us get off,” I say and then promptly shut my mouth. I did not mean to say that out loud.

“We really need to find you better men than you’ve been with,” Isabel replies with an expression of pity on her face.

“That’s what we’re doing. Come on, Maggie. Answer the question!” Charlie barks.

“Yes! Okay…yes. That does sort of…turn me on.”

The three of them break out in excited giggles as my cheeks heat up to the point of scorching. I can’t believe I just admitted that.

Suddenly, the questions get a little easier to answer, especially when I’m not sober enough to put too much thought into them. They just fly out of my mouth without hesitation.

Would you like to share your partner with others? No.

Would you like to treat your partner like a slave? Maybe.

Do you prefer to have control and know what’s coming in the bedroom? Yes.

Would you like to be addressed by a proper title during sex? Maybe.

Would you prefer a partner to be younger or older than you? Is that really a question?

Younger.

The wine is gone by the time Isabel reaches the end of the quiz and the results begin to generate. We’re waiting on bated breath for the results, and when her eyebrows dance upward in surprise, I nearly scream.

“What is it?”

“Maggie…you’re a—"

“What are you girls doing in here?” Emerson asks as he walks into the kitchen, and I snatch my phone out of Isabel’s hand so fast it’s nearly violent.

“Oh, nothing…” Charlie responds with a tight-lipped smile on her face as she moves to her man’s side. He lifts a brow as he looks down at her.

“Are you drunk?” he asks.

Her cheeks turn pink. “Maybe.”

He gives her a quick pat on the butt and she yelps with a laugh as she buries her face into his chest. His lips press against the top of her head, and I feel the need to look away. Their constant public displays always make me uncomfortable. I mean, they’re a cute couple and it’s clear they’re ridiculously crazy about each other, but I always feel like I’m intruding on their privacy when they touch each other in our company.

As my eyes quickly dance away from their cuddling, I find him staring at me again. Beau is watching from the living room, but instead of focusing on his dad and ex-girlfriend, he’s looking at me. Our gazes meet for only a moment before I glance away, but it makes me wonder if seeing them touching is even harder for him.
